Individuals

World Book Night is for everyone, whether you read regularly or less often, it is the perfect opportunity to celebrate books and the difference they make to your life. There are so many ways that you can get involved.

Download resources to support your activity.

1. Read a book during the #ReadingHour at 7-8pm on 23 April! Share what you’re reading on social media using #ReadingHour and #WorldBookNight to join the online celebration

2. Share books with someone else. Talk to friends about the books you would recommend, lend books to each other or gift them. Buy a book from Bookshop.org to support The Reading Agency and independent bookshops at no additional cost to you

3. Hold a party, quiz night or book club to bring your friends together and celebrate reading. Find out more about starting a book club on the Book Club Hub.

4. Host a pre-loved book swap night with your colleagues or friends. It’s a nice idea to add a post it note with a brief description of what the new reader can expect!

5. Share what you’re doing to celebrate with us on social media! Tag us @readingagency and use #WorldBookNight, #GoAllIn2026 and #NationalYearOfReading2026

These are just a few ideas, but take a look at our resources page for more.
